Following his early experience in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia he became a main board director of the acclaimed Australian Denton Corker Marshall Group in 1981. James, in this vital role, was instrumental in the expansion of the practice from Australia, throughout Asia, Europe and into China. After over 20 years with DCM in Hong Kong, the UK, Melbourne and Sydney, James chose to refocus his area of operation more specifically into Asia, China and Vietnam and to establish new partner practices in the Middle East, Australia and UK. In 2003, following the restructuring of the Sydney, Poland and Hong Kong practice, James established the independent dcmstudios as a renaissance of the original Hong Kong design office. James, personally and the practice has continued to be widely acclaimed, as providing only the highest level of innovative design in architecture, urban and interior design.
