The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Central has been re-opened after 7 months of renovation. With the original balconies enclosed by curtainwall and the podium travertine stone facing replaced by custom-made stone pattern composite panels, this veritable landmark in Central retains its key position in the heart of our city. dcmstudios was commissioned in 1999 for the feasibility study on the hotel renovation and in a series of work packages, the latest involving the closing of the hotel after Christmas 2005, have finally realized the fundamental objectives of the challenging refurbishment of the hotel built in the 1960s. The final work packages are scheduled to be complete by end 2006.
